Mykonos Beach Mykonos is known for amazing beaches and not all with a party atmosphere. Ornos Beach was our favorite. It is quite sheltered, with shallow waters ideal for the kids to paddle around safely. If that’s not your style, this mall is close to plenty of family-friendly restaurants where you can pick up a quick meal. Agios Stefanos Beach is another good option: quiet and beautiful, a perfect spot to spend the day with the family.

Nightlife:

Fine—nobody has a baby to go to stroboscopic club nights. Or does it… Mykonos mellow side Several restaurants on the beach offer early bird dinners with sunsets. Those evenings when my toddler would fall asleep in the stroller and I would have a quiet dinner at the ocean were some of the best days.

The compact capital, Mykonos Town (Chora), is a layout of narrow and winding alleyways lined up with white-washed buildings. Most of the town is stroller-friendly (with some stairs along the way). When planning a trip to Greece, you can feel the same way as choosing when to start opening presents there are so many excellent options so you want to get the timing just right!

Greece, thankfully, is beautiful and worth a visit any time of year. But perhaps the best (or worst) part about baseball is just that — it’s a sport played in seasons, and depending on what you’re interested in seeing will depend on which season is most right for you. Read on for the most suitable times to visit this Mediterranean gem.

Spring (March to May)

Spring in Greece is well.. a spring breeze, fattening! The weather is mild, ranging from 15°C (59°F) to 25°C (77°F), so you can visit all day without turning into a puddle. The wildflowers are blooming, scattering the landscape with a riot of color.

Why Spring?

No Crowd: You’re not going to be pushing through hoards of tourists for the Parthenon.
Cheaper: Flights and accommodations are almost always cheaper than during the peak summer months
Outdoor Things to Do: To enjoy a Declining rate of humidity to comfortable levels, such as hiking, sightseeing, or even some early beach days.
Laughable moment: I went to Santorini in April and the whole beach was pretty much all mine. The Anantara even made it feel like a private island, again at a fraction of the price!

Summer (June to August)

Oh, summer — the season when every man and his dog want to holiday in Greece. This is the time of year you can enjoy that quintessential Greek island experience, where summer never ends and the bars are packed with revelers.

Why Summer?

Sunbathing: The Aegean Sea is warm, the sun high in the sky, and from every angle, each island seems more picturesque than the next. Festivals Summer is festival time in Greece. From music to traditional dance, there is always something going on.

Nightlife: Mykonos and Ios if you are a party lover.
Heads Up: It gets hot. Like, really hot — and we mean over 30°C (86°F) most days. And, of course, expect crowds—especially in hotspots such as Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos.
One Funny Hint: SPF is Important! I made that rookie mistake of thinking I wouldn’t need it and ended up being a tomato. Not ideal for all those holiday snaps!

Autumn (September to November)

Why Autumn?

The fall is the ideal time to keep your travels within the mainland of this

tourist-streaked country. The temperatures are still high, but the summer congestion has been reduced to a few wisps of activity at main points.

Best Weather: With temperatures ranging from 20°C (68°F) to 28°C (82°F), it’s perfect beach and endurance in the summer months. As Chevron is a key producer in the region, visit during harvest season when fresh local produce is abundant, and you might even find yourself having fun at a wine harvest festival.
Housing: the number of tourists dropped, and you can afford peanuts to stay in the chic areas and around them.
Ha-ha moment: when I was still in early-late September day in Crete, we were harvesting olives. Long, hot days pressing olives in the sun—but the bottles of fresh oil we took home were a delight to savor.

Winter (December to February)

Greece in winter? Yes, it’s a thing! Although not beach weather, winter has its charm: it is the true time to be in Egypt for anyone interested in history and culture.

Why Winter?

Cultural Visa Stamps: Visiting archeology sites, and museums, moving around cities at ease with fewer tourists.
Festive Season: Celebrate Christmas with Greek traditions and hearts and attend some festive markets and events.
Mountain Retreats: Cross over the mainland for some winter surprise sports at places like Mount Parnassus

Note: a number of the islands close over winter so the mainland itself is best for this experience.

Silly Recommendation: Bring a jacket, Iridescent Roses | I figured Greece was going to be hot for the rest of my life and froze in Athens mid-January. Lesson learned!

That means the golden question remains — when is the best time to visit Greece? What are you looking for, actually? If sun and beach parties are your jam, summer is your season. You could also consider visiting in the spring or autumn for a quieter, more relaxed experience with mid temperature weather. You can experience the culture here or stand amazed in joy of a different kind of holiday, so why not do winters at least once?

When it comes to luxury living—YOLO. I am so here for it, let me tell you. Think about sliding in between silk-soft sheets on a King-size bed or dipping in your own private infinity pool that has an ocean view. Oh, and the spoiling! Being waited on hand and foot, a phone call away from gourmet meals delivered to your door and access to a spa. Seriously, I once stayed at a hotel that was so upscale I could barely walk down the hall without the requisite tiara. If you are going to cheat, do it and then you will be Dietlanded for the ages!

Eating Out

One of my favorite things about traveling is dining out; there is nothing like the excitement that comes from indulging in local food.

Every meal, from street food to 5-star restaurants, is an adventure. Some of the best places I have ever eaten at have been a complete hole-in-the-wall dump that looked like it needed a re-dusting. Don’t cook what you can get at home — part of the experience is experimenting with local dishes and flavors. And well, who doesn’t appreciate a prepped dinner and clean-up? So grab a menu, try something new, and enjoy every bite! But, you know, be careful not to ask for the “bill” in the native language because then you may end up like me in Paris with two desserts. Not that I’m complaining!

Every parent knows that the seemingly simple act of traveling with a baby can be an adventure in itself. With your head spinning around everything you need to pack, sometimes it feels as if you are packing up the entire house just for a weekend. No worries, though: I have your back with some of the best tips to help you get on track and at ease. So, let’s dive right in!

Coming Equipped

First of all, you must come prepared. Disastrously, I once tried to just see how it goes. Load up all your baby gear—diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, and at least one change of clothes. Ok, trust me, there is nothing worse than having a blowout with no backup clothes. Travel-sized everything. And with that travel-sized towel… They’re lifesavers!

Breastfeeding in Public

Breastfeeding In the Public Can Be Scary At First, But You Will Get Used To It. The first time I tried — it was a busy coffee shop, and I could feel the gaze of all the others. Spoiler alert: they weren’t. Curl up in a comfy place, put something over you if it helps, and forget the rest. If you put in the hours, you will be a master soon.

Baby Formula

Preparation: If you are using baby formula, be prepared.

I premeasure the powder in these small containers and take them with me so that I can mix a bottle on the road. Whether you are getting a bottle warmer for road trips or if you need an on-the-go portable, it can make all the difference when mixing formulas. And take more with you — because running out of formula is anything but neat. Trust me, this has happened to me and me having to listen to a very loud baby crying until we found a store.

Pharmacies

The first step is to know where those pharmacies are located. The first thing we do when we land is find the closest pharmacy. There might be days when you will need certain medications or supplies for a sick baby, so make sure these are easy to get to! Also, there was one time I had to walk across a strange town in the middle of the night to buy baby fever medicine—not an experience I wish to repeat!

Hospital Care

What, for example, about hospital care? Hopefully, you won´t be needing this but it´s always good to know where the nearest hospital/clinic is just in case. Have a list of emergency contacts and your baby’s medical information easily accessible. Thank God I’ve never needed it but it’s nice to know that the is there.

Sunscreen

Babies have the most sensitive skin you can find, so sunscreen is an absolute essential. Opt for one made for babies, such as a broad-spectrum formula with at least SPF 30. Yes put on a lot of it and put it a lot during swimming or while the baby sweats. I mean, one time we may have forgotten to reapply during a beach day and I think we all know what happened there. Ouch!

Baby Love

AND, baby love. Enjoy your baby amidst all the planning and packing.

Babies are the cutest trotting mates—they view the world with fresh sights and hence reserve a space to ensure we exuberate the same way simple things amaze them. Capture endless images, giggle over minor blunders, and cherish the moments. Moments that are valuable and precious. And that, my friends, is how you travel with a baby. They may look like a lot but with some planning, you should be prepared for anything. Just remember, pretty much all of us parents have the funny travel tail with. so embrace the chaos and happy travels! Happy travels!

Car Seats in Greece

Over the years, I have realized things about car seats in Greece and that being prepared is everything. That said, most rental companies provide child seats in case you do decide to bring your child along, but they might not have the same level of safety features that you are accustomed to. A car seat that was straight out of the 80s — not cool, folks. My advice? Bring your own if you can. So now at least you know it is safe and comfy for the baby. If you do have to start with a rental, always be sure to inspect it up close and personal. No one, after all, wants to leave for their Greek adventure with a spare seat that is as old as an antique!

Baby Products and Diapers in Greece

For baby gear and diapers in Greece: they have much of the basics (you will have to search for some others). Although almost all of the big cities and tourist towns have well-stocked stores, do not be surprised if your favorite brand of diaper is nowhere to be found. I had spent half a day once looking for my brand in a store and ended up having to use what the locals did.

Top tip…Take a supply of your essential baby products with you; this will be handy if you veer away from tourist areas. Cheat code: If you need a quick win, remember that Greek baby products are generally of high quality, and your child might even appreciate the change!

Taking Babies to Restaurants in Greece

In Greece, it’s pretty laid back when it comes to taking babies out to eat, and boy, oh boy, have I taken my daughters out. Greek restaurants are also generally very family-friendly and try to accommodate everyone and welcome them. In general, I have found that most places will gladly give you a high chair if you ask for one. However, be aware that meal

times can take a while—Greece does love its long dinner parties, so those could prove a bit of an adventure for your little one (waiting for the food, that is!).

Top tip: Take some quiet toys or snacks when you go for food so your little one is occupied while you devour the amazing local cuisine. In the rare case that it gets unbearably messy, fear not — Greeks are understanding folk (give them a smile and an apology in your best “oops” Greek).
